        Analysis of the Food and Beverage Market

         据“人口时钟” 统计,2024 年马来西亚的人口近 3 千 4 百万人大关。其中土著(含马来人)约占 67.4%,其次为华人占 24.6%,印度人占 7.3%,以及其它少数民族占 0.7%。人均国民收入为美金 1 万零 60 元,属中上收入阶层国家(中产阶层占总人口约 3/4)。马来西亚是一个高度依赖国际贸易的开发经济体,高度依赖进口食品及食材,伴随着GDP 稳健增长,饮食品市场日趋多样化,食品供应来自国内及海外。

        According to the "Population Clock" statistics, the population of Malaysia is expected to reach nearly 34 million in 2024. Among them, indigenous people (including Malays) account for about 67.4%, followed by Chinese people at 24.6%, Indians at 7.3%, and other ethnic minorities at 0.7%. The per capita national income is 1060 US dollars, belonging to the upper middle income class of countries (the middle class accounts for about 3/4 of the total population). Malaysia is a highly dependent developing economy on international trade, heavily reliant on imported food and ingredients. With steady GDP growth, the food and beverage market is becoming increasingly diversified, with food supply coming from both domestic and overseas sources.

         马来西亚作为东盟自由贸易区的成员国,执行 AFTA 条例中的:“普遍有效优惠关税”透过东盟区域自由贸易协定签署合作的国家包括:中国、日本、韩国、澳洲、纽西兰、印度。作为东盟市场的入口,自 1986 年开放吸引外资以来,成功地吸引大量外资来马投资。根据马来西亚投资发展局(MIDA)顷发布之统计数据显示,依照产业别区分:食品工业成长 8.7%(2011 年成长 4.7%)、饮料工业成长 8.4%(2011 年成长 3.0%)。

        As a member of the ASEAN Free Trade Area, Malaysia implements the "Generally Effective Preferential Tariffs" under the AFTA regulations. Countries that cooperate through the ASEAN Regional Free Trade Agreement include China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and India. As an entrance to the ASEAN market, Malaysia has successfully attracted a large amount of foreign investment since its opening to attract foreign investment in 1986. According to statistics released by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), by industry, the food industry grew by 8.7% (4.7% in 2011) and the beverage industry grew by 8.4% (3.0% in 2011).

         马来西亚是全球最大的清真食品出口国,正全力发展为国际清真食品中心,是进军全球14 亿人口清真市场的最佳跳板。目前马国伊斯兰教发展署(JAKIM)所发的清真认证获得 22 个国家 42 个回教协会承认,换言之若取得马国清真认证,等于具有回教国家的通行证,有利拓展广大回教食品市场。

        Malaysia is the world"s largest exporter of halal food and is striving to develop into an international halal food center, making it the best springboard to enter the global halal market with a population of 1.4 billion. At present, the Halal certification issued by the Islamic Development Agency of Malaysia (JAKIM) has been recognized by 42 Islamic associations in 22 countries. In other words, obtaining Halal certification in Malaysia is equivalent to having a pass to a Muslim country, which is beneficial for expanding the vast Islamic food market.

         马亚西亚政府视农业为国家经济的第三增长引擎,2015 年预计拨款 60 亿马币以充作农业相关发展计划,大幅提升农业市场竞争力及商业价值。这项措施提供了海外伙伴另一个商机--投资或与本地商家合资开拓马国的农业市场及食品加工业。

        The Malaysian government regards agriculture as the third growth engine of the national economy and is expected to allocate 6 billion Malaysian Ringgit in 2015 for agricultural related development plans, significantly enhancing the competitiveness and commercial value of the agricultural market. This measure provides another business opportunity for overseas partners - investing or partnering with local businesses to explore Malaysia"s agricultural market and food processing industry.

         马来西亚杂货零售行业相当成熟,据马来西亚零售组织的资料显示:市面上 60%的食品从传统超市及专卖店购得。国际商业观察(BMI)的数据显示马来西亚的食品零售业市值为:美金 150 亿,并预计在 2024 年达至美金 240 亿。霸级市场及大型商店遍布马来西亚各城市,成了城市约:45%~60%消费者主要采购食品的来源。

        The Malaysian grocery retail industry is quite mature. According to data from Malaysian retail organizations, 60% of the food on the market is purchased from traditional supermarkets and specialty stores. According to data from BMI, the market value of Malaysia"s food retail industry is $15 billion and is expected to reach $24 billion by 2024. Top tier markets and large stores are scattered throughout various cities in Malaysia, becoming the main source of food purchases for approximately 45% to 60% of consumers in these cities.
